the country, but also to support the civilian population in natural disasters |

in 1917 our constitution was changed to make sure that all navy ships were manned by mexicans. |
| 5 | CLAUDIO | The sea is a mayor way for nations to comunicate and trade. |
| 6 | RODRIGO | It gives us great
natural resources and is the site of mayor battles. |
| 7 | JAVIER | In class we have been
learning about some of the wars Mexico has been involved in. |
| 8 | JUAN FERNANDO | In almost every case maritime fighting plaed a mayor role. |
| 10 | SANTIAGO | This is because
Mexico has one of the 10 largest coastlines in the world. |
| 11 | REGINA | Over ten thousand kilometers of coastline surround us. |
| 12 | ANGELA | Through our ports we
are directly linked to over 70 countries around the world |
| 13 | MONTSERRAT | Our country has grown
and learnt through its contact with other nations |
| 14 | KIARA | The navy has protected and safeguarded us through it all. |
| 15 | ETHAN | They have also kept us safe when natural disasters hit. |
| 16 | VALENTINA | Even before Odile, on
september 10th, the "plan marina" was started to get help anywhere it was needed |
| 17 | ELIAS | The navy set up 38
kitchens and places to give out food to people in need. |
| 18 | IVANA | Each helicopter that
came brought 3 tons of food with it, enough for five hundred people. |
| 19 | JOHNNY | The people who make up our navy are just like you and me. |
| 20 | RUBEN | But they have decidad
to work for the benefit of the whole country. |
| 21 | JOSHUA | and to help when we
are in need, even if this means placing themselves in danger |
| 22 | NICOLE | it is because of this
that today we celebrate and applaud them |
| 23 | LEONEL | Today is navy day and
we want to say thank you to all of them |
